THE LEVEL CROSSING

The most of Existing Level Crossing conditions are damaged surface, not smooth, different elevation and it's conclusion is Bad and Danger.

It is better to review the old design by using Strip Median, before and after the level crossing, avoid post bottle necking (use one lane in one direction). Let the vehicles stuck before level crossing, and crossed it after the front space over the railway is available to fill.

The road section capacity have to equal before and after the level crossing, without any handicap along the road after the level crossing.

Rigid pavement combined with flexible pavement is better for bearing capacity and cheap/easy for maintenance.

The safe level crossing is better than feel so sorry after the accident.

Study for underground space user’s perception has been analyzed by the authors based on the opinion survey at the major existing underground space facility, such as underground commercial shops, parking area or passing ways, in the city center area of Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition, this study result is compared with the similar study in Japan and Korea conducted during year 2003 and 2004 and the difference of underground space user’s perception among three countries is identified as the results. These study results will become useful indication for underground space planning or underground station designing, which will be implemented by Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit Project in the near future.
